Margaree Highland Games

Founded in 2012, the Margaree Highland Games offers a melding of Scottish, Irish and Acadian people and traditions.

The main feature of the games being the Heavy events, there is also some other amazing events spread throughout the 3 days the Highland Games are organized around.

If you attend, you can expect to see:

  • Heavy Games (throwing of weighted objects such as a cabers, stones, or weighted bags)
  • Highland Dance
  • Bagpipes and marches
  • Horse drawn wagon rides and a kids play zone are also available, as well as bake sales and canteens.

Nature walks, hikes and races are also something to take part in. For some events, they allow children onto the filed to participate (fake caber tosses, tug-of-war)

Admissions exist, but are reasonably priced. (6 dollars per adult, 4 per child over 5, children under 5 are free admission, and a flat rate of 20$ may be used for larger families)

A beautiful showcase of not only the Scottish, Irish and Acadian traditions, but also the rolling hills of the Margaree Valley.
