We met friends the other day to hike Red and Blue trails at Ernie Miller Park and Nature Center located in Olathe, KS.
The park features three miles of hiking trails traversing prairies, forest and a stream. There are several types of trails including handicap accessible sections. The back trails, for those who like a woodsier feel, is where it’s at. There are several hills in the Red Trail, so we take our waking sticks. The blue trail has a more level terrain with some large, stable skipping stones over the creek.
Ernie Miller Nature Center offers monthly activities, many which are kid-friendly. As an adult, I still enjoyed the October spooky night in the woods with stories at different points in the trail. Other activities include amphitheater programs, family days, wellness activities, and many more. The park features an email newsletter teaming things each season.
Of note: Please be aware that pets and bikes are not allowed.
